My Goal Is to Change the Dogs Attitude About Learning
Remember, our goal is to change the dogs attitude and to build it’s learning and listening capacity…from a dog who has historically put up resistance to change. It’s the fastest and most effective way to fully integrate your dog into your family’s life. Be who your dog looks up to!
I Am an Advocate for a Dog’s Mental Recovery
I truly want them to succeed. I assess their demeanor, create a strategy to achieve the goal of the owner, and then implement it. Every approach involves Leash Training and getting and keeping the dog’s attention. Leash Training is where the dog owner communicates their wishes to the dog…their likes and dislikes. Just like a telephone line! Through Sound and Touch and Sight & body language, I show the owners how to express their disappointments, or their satisfaction and joy in their dog’s better decisions and accomplishments…big or small.
They are motivated in the positive way and not out of the negative. You can force your will on most any dog, but it will not change their core values. I teach the owners how to win over the dog’s allegiance by positive reinforcement and calm assertive techniques. Dogs will spot a phony dominant from a mile away. When a dog understands and respects it’s owner, they are bathed in their own confidence for a job will done, and they become more apt to keep listening and progressing forward with what you have to offer them. Be who your dog looks up to! It’s the Way of a Dog.
I am often called out when dogs in a home have been in an altercation and one is being assessed for euthanization. Regarding this situation, I will give my personal opinions on one of 3 options available to the dog owners. 1. What are the Ramifications and possible Remedies if the owner wants to Keep the “Culprit”? 2. What are the remedies and time frames if the owner wants to attempt to re-home the “Culprit”? 3. Give them the truth about the high reliability that the “Culprit” will be euthanized should the owner wish to give the dog back to the shelter.
My philosophy and method evolved out of a positive approach to dog training and of gaining a dogs attention through calm steady leadership. I teach that the rewards for good behavior and for listening are plentiful and honest. Getting and keeping a dogs attention and focus on it’s owner is of paramount importance. My training is accomplished through clear hand signals, taps from the Leash, vocal commands and “Treats” of affection and for a job well done!
I have synthesized my practice into a modern and upgraded approach. I’ve developed my program from what the latest Dog Science tells us, and what I have discovered by working with my family dogs since I was 6. STOP SIT & WAIT has proven it’s effectiveness to my standards. It is progressive and effective in humanely administering instant corrections to the dog. I harness positive energy to override the dogs worries, fears and trepidations when I want them to “Let Go and Let Joe”!
I believe in my method much more than the old school Dominance type of approach to dog training. I feel that the Domination and fear based training, only work for the moments the dog is feeling worried or afraid of the punishing outcome. My Method encourages the dog to continue working towards keeping themselves and their owner(s) happy and positive! My service works best for Families,Ranchers & Homeowners and anyone wanting to turn the corner on changing their dog’s bad habits and disruptions.
No, we do not have the facilities to house additional animals besides those we see from day to day. Way of a Dog does offer a Dog Day Immersion program that involve’s the clients dog spending the day with me. They spend roughly 10 hours with me, immersed in my Specialized Behavior Training Method. (Typically from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm).

Yes, but it is done in conjunction with the overall Dog Behavior training techniques that are provided by Way of a Dog…and the puppy needs to be at least 4 months old. My program is all encompassing in terms of helping the dog’s overall mental awareness and understanding and attention abilities towards their humans. I call it Mutt Management!
Absolutely, but I recommend that the puppy be at least 2-3 months old prior to it’s beginning Behavior Training Course with me. Typically, it’s best to for the dog to be given obedience and behavior training once they begin to be too much for the owners to handle or maintain. As dogs come of age, they need to be guided and led through their worries and decision process. Like Humans, they wrestle with their own instincts and their ideas on how to approach things. Most humans let their dogs just be dogs and do what they do when they want to do it.
Spend a Little Now and Save a Lot Later
I choose to convince people to begin their dogs on my program BEFORE it starts costing you time and money and heartaches in the coming days months and years. I say be proactive and get as many possible liabilities that the dog may cause behind you. Get your Mutt Management Today from Way of a Dog. Behavior Training for Dogs and their People! Way of a Dog Is Always Accepting New Clients

It’s the Way of a Dog approach.
Hello, I’m Joe Ozier, the Owner of Way of a Dog-Behavior Training for Dogs and Their People
I have shot and edited over 125 videos posted here in the Way of a Dog section of my YouTube Playlist. I have been posting these videos over my 6 years of working with dogs and their owners. The last video on this page is the direct link to all of them. These videos began as straight documentation of my work with Dogs. Each dog and video showing the dog displaying their own particular issue(s).
Some are very raw in that they are solely meant to document the dogs changes and evolution. My goal is to always show the dog before, during and after my behavior work with them. I always want to break out more of these dogs into higher quality productions, showing more in-depth analysis etc., but time and practicalities prevail.
Some of these are meant to specifically be training tools and vehicles of information for my methodology, techniques and principles. Some have higher production value than others. I edited some of them specifically for my CMAC TV show called The Joe Zone. It’s a show of me being funny and bizarre and sometimes having clever thought provoking parodies going way back into the early 80’s. It’s a mish mash of me being provocative and daring. It was my own sort of Saturday Night Live. Some of the content I have developed includes some early video work at the BVC (Bucket Video Channel). Frankly, I’ve always been a Ham! My mother used to say of my zest for puns and witticisisms…”Don’t laugh, it only encourages him”! It’s still true to this day. :)
