Let Me Help You Conquer Your Dog’s Issues
It’s important to follow ones instincts and passions all throughout one’s life. For me, I have been successful at training dogs since I can remember, starting with our family dogs. I grew into training one of my rescues to do community theater when I was living in Florida in 1999. (The Tri-Color Collie)
Shep, The Wonder dog became a successful Thespian and was known as Shep the Wonder Dog. He performed in many community theater productions during our 9 years in Florida. He performed in Kismet, George M, Carnival, Sugar Babies, and the concert of his musical, Shep the Musical. There was a special shortened and rewritten version of that musical but it was called Shep’s Christmas Wish. I wrote it as a fundraiser for the United Way’s Toys for Tots Annual Christmas Toy Drive.
Shep didn’t care much about his theatrical life after he returned to Fresno in 2007. :) He was reviewed by theater critics and written about in many newspapers and dog magazines. Latham Letter pg.-14 Herald Tribune Kings River Life Part 1 Kings River Life Part 2 Kings River Live Part 3
Point Being, Shep was tied up his whole life. He was unsocialized and got pepper sprayed a month after I brought him home by a UPS man he had cornered on the front porch of my first home.
It’s Something I Know I Can Do If Given the Chance
I can help all types of dogs change their attitudes and bad behaviors. It’s something I know I can do if given the chance and some time to get it done. There are those times I need the Owners onboard to keep going on training time for the safety of the family and other pets.
Certain cases take more intensive mental attitude rehabilitation to reach the changes I know that can be made. Changes that need to be made right away. Family finances always factor into dog training budgets and can always effect the final decision of the owner to proceed or stop.
It’s Easier to Hope Things Will Improve
Typically, most owners can’t pay for real training and so eventually, the dog gets itself or it’s owner into trouble. Knocking over someone old, biting a young child, or even worse, chewing up a neighbors pet. It’s common to see people cut back on spending money to help their dogs. Consequently, it’s easier to hope a dog will grow out of it’s issues, than to spend what’s needed (time and money) to get the dog right in it’s head and listening.
I Focus Directly on the Dog Owners and Their Dogs
Throughout my life, I knew that I could help dog owners with their dog’s behaviors and attitudes. Over the years, I developed my own “method” into what it is today. By May of 2011, I began hanging out my shingle aso Way of a Dog, Behavior Training for Dogs and their People.
I have worked with many shelter and rescue dogs over the years, but now I work professionally with dog owners and their families to change their dog’s poor attitudes or their developing issues. I call it STOP SIT & WAIT. Dogs learn how to listen and the Dog Owners learn how to communicate more effectively in just 6 hours of one on one classes in their home.
